1. Installation

We recommend that you close all applications before installing. This includes Explorer, File Manager, third-party software, and so on.

To install the product, double-click autorun.exe on the root of the DVD and follow the instructions.

We recommend that you accept all default options in the installation.

2. Starting the Product

This product contains TestOut LabSim. LabSim contains a list of TestOut products available to the current LabSim user account. To start a course click on the course title from the Library on the Account Home page.

After installation, use the Start menu to start LabSim. Click Start, LabSim. This will launch LabSim from which you can launch any product that you have installed.

3. Minimum System Requirements*

Processor: 1.3 GHz
Free Hard Disk Space: 200 MB
Optional Disk Space: up to 4.5 GB per course (when choosing the option to install course content to hard drive)
Memory (RAM): 512 MB
DVD Drive
Monitor: Super VGA
Color Depth: 32 bit (true color)
Horizontal x Vertical Resolution: 1024 x 768
Sound Card: Windows XP/Vista-supported
User Input: Windows XP/Vista-supported keyboard and mouse

Note: In some cases, operating system minimum requirements may exceed the requirements listed. Please refer to your operating system documentation for more information.

*Some customers have used our product on systems below our published minimum requirements without experiencing serious problems. However, for satisfactory performance, we recommend at least the minimum system requirements.

4. Known Problems

Our products may not install or execute correctly if anti-virus software, or similar types of software programs, have been installed on your system. To solve this problem, disable the anti-virus software, reboot (be sure this does not re-enable the anti-virus software), and try again.

If you are having trouble with the appearance of the screen (text appears outside the boundaries of the fields or test questions are hard to read), make sure that you have selected Normal fonts (DPI setting) in your display settings.

5. Upgrading from a Previous TestOut Product

If you install an older product after you install this product, you may have problems running all installed products. To solve the problem, simply reinstall this product.

6. Removing Products

To uninstall courses, use the Install/Uninstall link under the Setup section in LabSim. To uninstall LabSim, use the Add/Remove Programs applet in the Control Panel.
